Terry Schwalm has been working with cultural and tourism organizations in Saskatchewan for more than 30 years. Terry possesses keen analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, and superior attention to detail. She is an experienced researcher, communicator, facilitator and strategic planner, and she thrives on looking through the lens of business to assist clients in reaching their full potential.  

Terry’s passion for culture and tourism has been prominent since the beginning. Her career began as the Executive Director for the Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Society (1982-1985) which, at the time, was the only organization providing multi-media tours and workshop across the province. She then went on to conceive and manage the Gift Shop in the Saskatchewan Pavilion at Expo ’86 in Vancouver. The shop contained Saskatchewan-made products exclusively and generated $500,000 in 5½ months. After the world fair, she became the Marketing Coordinator for the Regina Exhibition Association (now Evraz Place) and was responsible for the marketing and rental service agreements for 19 buildings on site. In 1988 Terry was invited to apply for the Executive Director position at the Saskatchewan Craft Council where she remained until 1997.

Terry has participated on many committees and Boards including the Saskatchewan Recording Industry Association Board (now SaskMusic), Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Society Board, Wanuskewin Heritage Park Commercial Advisory Committee, SIAST Woodland Campus Applied Arts Advisory Committee, Saskatchewan Arts Alliance Board, Cultural Industries Development Strategy Committee, Cultural Tourism Task Force Committee, Saskatchewan Arts Board Artist-in-Residence jury, and the Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts.  In 1995, Terry was invited to be the sole Canadian representative to an Organization of American States conference on “Design and Sustainable Resource Use in the Crafts” in Guatemala.

Since 1997 Terry has operated a management and marketing consulting firm that specializes in market research, strategic planning, needs assessments, feasibility studies and organizational development primarily for groups and businesses in the culture and tourism sectors.  From time to time, Terry works with other individuals or companies who provide specialized expertise.
